The Young
European Philharmonic Orchestra
The Young
European Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by the
Landschaftsverband
Stade (which is an association that
supports regional cultural activities) as International Youth
Symphony Orchestra Elbe-Weser in 1988. Since then it has realized
one or two projects per year in which it has rehearsed demanding
works in no time and has performanced them. Often already the
orchestra has enchanted its audience and filled the media with
enthusiasm. It is an orchestra of a special kind because it is
the only orchestra in Germany which is casted regional and
international. The orchestra members are between 14 and 25 years
old and come from different European countries.
Since 1992 the
Young European Philharmonic Orchestra invites young musicians
from European partner towns. So far the young guests have come
from England, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Poland,
Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania and Russia.
The Young
European Philharmonic Orchestra gave concerts in Lower Saxony (a
state of Germany), Bremen and Hesse (another German state). On
its 10th anniversary in 1998 the orchestra travelled
abroad for the first time. It had been invited to Romania and had
given concerts in Temesvar, Arad and Sibiu. In 2000 another
journey abroad led to Iceland with concerts
in Hafnarfjördur, Reykholt and Reykjavik.
Body
responsible of the Young European Philharmonic Orchestra is the
Landschaftsverband
Stade with support of the music schools between Elbe and
Weser and the state Lower Saxony.
How can
I participate?
Everybody who
plays an orchestra instrument and has pleasure in making music
with other people is welcome to participate. Every year old
members grow out of the orchestra and make room for new ones.
We are
looking for:
1.) Young
musicians who are enjoying music so much that they are willing to
go all out for it.
2.) Young
musicians who would like to dive with all their skills into the
world of orchestra playing.
3.) Young
musicians who love music and who would enjoy meeting people from
different countries and developing and experiencing the music
together with them.
We are
expecting:
Musical skills
on your instrument.
Pleasure to
play in a group
The ability of
teamwork
How much do
I have to pay?
You will
hardly have any costs because the Landschaftsverband Stade will
bear all costs of accomodation and food supply in Stade as well
as for the round trip. But we are collecting a fee of 80 Euro
from every member for financing the rehearsals with musicians of
the Concert Hall Orchestra Zurich. This amount can be offset
against the travelling expenses.
